Former Formula One driver JJ Lehto was impressed by his first-ever run in
an Audi R8. The Finn, who will be competing for Team ADT Champion
Racing in the 2003 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and the Le Mans 24
Hour race, had is first taste of the triple Le Mans winning R8 at the Moroso
track in Florida. “It’s got just so much grip – you can take an amazing
amount of speed into a corner,” explained Lehto. “It´s not just an
aerodynamic thing – the mechanical grip is awesome. The Audi R8 is an
unbelievably good car.”
Lehto will be joined by Stefan Johansson and Emanuele Pirro for the 12
Hours of Sebring on March 15 and the Le Mans 24 Hour race in June. His
partner in the ALMS is Johnny Herbert.
Champion Racing also successfully completed two days of shakedown
runs at Moroso with its two brand new Audi RS6 “Competition” GT cars
which will have their race debut at Sebring on March 14 in the SPEED
