The modular construction of the Audi R8 allowed the team to repair the badly damaged car. 40 minutes after the spectacular accident, Lehto´s team-mate Marco Werner was able to rejoin the race, securing fifth place in the LM P1 class and thus defending the overall lead in the ALMS. After a double stint Emanuele Pirro handed the Audi R8 to Frank Biela in P1.
