The Audi drivers JJ Lehto and Marco Werner have set a new record following their
victory at the fifth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in Portland (USA): A
driver team has previously never managed to win four races in succession in the
North American race series. However, the German-Finnish duo had to work hard for
this victory: Lehto had to sit out a stop-and-go penalty after a collision during the
opening stages of the race, but fought his way back to the head of the field after a few
laps in the Team ADT Champion Racing Audi R8. Lehto and Werner sit
unchallenged at the top of the leader board in the overall classification 30 points
ahead.
Lamborghini Murcièlago out of luck
Following the first podium visit for the new Lamborghini Murcièlago at the last round
of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), the drivers were out of luck in Portland
(USA): Peter Kox and David Brabham fought for a podium place during the last third
of the race, but were touched by a lapped car and were forced to retire due to broken
suspension. The sister car of Tracy Krohn and Nic Jonsson rolled down pit lane with
a gearbox problem 20 minutes before the finish of the 2 hour 45 minute.
